March 2026: Prayers for Nigeria

On March 6th, 2026, the Nigerian Community in Skåne had the honor of representing Nigeria at a special prayer service held at Svenska kyrkan in Höllviken, Sweden, as part of the global World Day of Prayer (WDP) observance.

Each year, the World Day of Prayer brings Christians around the world together in a shared moment of faith and solidarity, focusing on a particular country. In 2026, prayers were specially dedicated to Nigeria, with the theme “I Will Give You Rest: Come.”

The gathering created a meaningful space for reflection, worship, and intercession. Members of the Nigerian community joined worshippers from different backgrounds in prayers for peace, unity, and safety in Nigeria, lifting the nation in hope and faith. The service also provided an opportunity to share aspects of Nigerian culture and strengthen bonds between communities in Sweden.

Moreover, a special highlight of the event was the opportunity to share a taste of delicious Nigerian meals with the guests. The meal served drew wonderful feedback, with many expressing how delicious the food was. It also opened a warm and engaging discussion about Nigeria, allowing guests to appreciate our culture, traditions, and hospitality from a meaningful perspective. This moment proudly showcased a part of who we are as a people.

Through prayers, songs, and shared fellowship, the event reminded participants of the power of collective faith and global solidarity. It was a moment not only to pray for Nigeria but also to celebrate unity among people of different nations and traditions.

The Nigerian Community in Skåne expressed gratitude to Svenska kyrkan and the organizers of the World Day of Prayer for creating such a welcoming and meaningful platform. Events like these continue to build bridges of understanding, compassion, and spiritual connection across communities. 🙏🌍
